IN ALL SERIOUSNESS
Where are you from?
Stouffville, Ontario, Canada
Describe yourself in 3 words:
Passionate, Hardworking, Crazy
What's the best part about your sport?
Having fun! Racing brings so much happiness and fun into my life, that definitely has to be the best part about doing anything.
How did you start racing?
I started off go-karting after incurring a severe hip injury that ended my career as a triathlete. I always loved driving anything with an engine prior to that and growing up in the country gave me the ability to rip around no problem. But my first love of sport was with triathlons. After my injury, I was forced to take a step back and so I enrolled in go karting as a way to still have an outlet for my competitiveness but not putting much demand on my hip. Turned out I ended up loving racing more than anything! What started off as being a devastating moment in my life turned out to lead me into something even better.
Mosport aka CTMP will forever be my favourite track. To me, its home. I grew up there and learned everything I know on that track.
Greatest accomplishment yet as an Athlete?
Truthfully, my greatest accomplishment that meant the most to me was making OFSAA for cross country back in 2009. I started the year prior to that being the underdog runner on the team and that summer leading into our 2009 school year I decided I wanted to lead. I busted my butt off all summer and came into that season being the lead female runner and took our team to OFSAA. It’s accomplishments like this that really stick with me. It’s just a true testament to how far hard work and dedication can take you.
Do you have a pre-race ritual and/or superstition?
I like to clean my car every morning on race day! I talk to him too and get him excited for the race day. ;)
If you were not racing, what would you do as a career?
I’d probably be a gym teacher or basketball coach. Athletics have always been a huge importance in my life and I love how you can inspire others through them. Basketball is also my other favourite sport aside from racing so it would be cool to be able to coach that.
What does the word "Rad" mean to you?
Rad to me is something that is totally cool. And I feel like to find something that is rad, it’s usually when something or someone is completely unique and authentic to its true self!
OUTSIDE TRACK LIMITS
What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
What’s something you wish you didn’t spend so much money on?
You are stuck on an island, you can pick one food to eat forever without getting tired of it, what would you eat?
Pizza Pockets. The deluxe ones of course so that I can still get my vegetable intake lol.
One thing you can't live without?
If you could switch lives with someone for a day who would it be?
Ellen DeGeneres! I’d love to be able to change people’s lives and give away money and cool stuff to strangers who need it most.
If your life was a song what would the title be?
Go Beach. ;)
Best advice ever?
Only you can do you, perfectly. Don’t look to find yourself in others! Be authentic, be unique and be confident enough to embrace it!
Who’s one person or company you think everyone should be following on social media?
I mean, @demichalkiasracing just launched. I think everyone should go follow that account to get all the Team Chalkias racing updates and insider race day/prep scoop. I’ve also heard Demi Chalkias was pretty cool. Just saying.
Which Moradness hat is your favourite?
The purple I Am Rad hat! Not only do I love the style and fit, but it also supports an amazing cause!
